RULES GOVERNING THE START, DELAY, AND CALLING OF GAMES

The home club management shall have the authority to determine whether or not to start, delay the starting time, or call off an official championship game.

When the home club management requests that a game be started, then it must be started, and every effort should be made to get the game played.  As soon as the home team’s batting order is handed to the home plate umpire, however, the South Atlantic League Umpires are in complete control of the game and the conduct of the game

EXCEPTION
The home club management CANNOT call off a game if it is the last time the two teams playing will meet on the original home club’s field in either the first or second half of the official playing schedule.  Only under these circumstances (and during these games) do the South Atlantic League Umpires have the authority to call off a game.  Should the home club request the game be started, this request will be carried out, and the game shall begin.  Once the game is officially started, however, the South Atlantic League Umpires are in complete control of the game and the conduct of the game.
