STAND-OFFS/STARE-OFFS

At the conclusion of the National Anthem, the players are expected to return to their dugout, sit down in the bullpen or take their usual position for the start of the game.  Any player that fails to begin the process of returning to their dugout, sitting down in the bullpen or taking their usual position for the start of the game by the time the home team’s pitcher has finished his warm-up pitches will be considered to be in violation of this policy.

If a stand-off/stare-off delays the start of a South Atlantic League game, the manager(s) of the players invovled will be fined $100.00 for each of his players that is a participant in the stand-off/stare off.  The penalties will be assessed for any player that fails to begin the process of returning to the dugout, sitting down in the bullpen or taking their usual position for the start of the game by the time the warm-up pitches have been completed.   Players that take an inordinate amount of time (by intentionally moving very slowly) to return to the dugout, sit down in the bullpen or take their position to start the game will also be considered to be in violation of this policy.

In addition, if it is possible to discern which team “won” the stand-off/stare-off (by remaining standing/staring longer than the other team), the manager of the “winning” stand-off/stare-off team will be fined an additional $100.00.

Repeat offenders may subject their respective manager(s) to higher fines for subsequent violations of this policy.

In addition to the penalties outlined above, players that fail to comply with the orders from the umpires will face possible ejection and additional fines.
